The Mid-Autumn Festival is a widely celebrated holiday throughout Asia and is fast approaching. This festival celebrates the end of the autumn harvest and is similar to Thanksgiving in the US. This year, the festival falls on September 29th.  

Additionally, October 2nd through the 6th in mainland China is National Day Golden Week, which celebrates the formation of the People’s Republic of China.

Golden Week Can Be a Surprise Disruption

Businesses, government, and factories shut down for these holidays, so they can be as disruptive to production as Chinese New Year.   

That’s why customers ordering parts from China during the holiday season are at risk of missing on-time delivery. It’s not uncommon for suppliers to send out last-minute, surprise communications that their ship date will be delayed due to the national holidays — with no alternative solutions provided.
